Hey folks!
Just got done with kilt-blowing, it was great seeing ya'll that could make it, and those of you who couldn't were greatly missed! I had a great time and I'm glad to be back in the States. That said, I've learned a few lessons about con-going, and I figured why not get started early? I'm hunting for roomates, or someone who needs a roomate next year in one of the host hotels. The commute to one of the other hotels just takes way too much fun out of the weekend, and I can't afford to go it alone again. By then I should be living in the area, so I'm excited about that. Oh, and oh great provider of outstanding rum? I'll have another order for you for next con as well.

I already posted up the info on facebook about reserving a room at the Westin. I cannot sing their praises enough. Also, Sam, dibs on you as a roomie again. Heh, maybe we can get Kevin and Hudson as roomies?

Hilton's sold out already until they open up more (if they open up more rooms) Sheraton and Weston are close to being sold out. Hyatt's doing the evil passkey thing on the 2nd at 10am with the Marriott doing the same on the 10th. Remember, if you book a room with the Marriott, they're taking out a non refundable first night deposit right then and there AND you can't transfer the room

On Ava's glowing recommendations, Ray and I will be staying with Amethyst Squirrel and her hubby at the Westin. Ray tried for the Hilton yesterday, but like everyone said, sold out. Oh, well. At least next year we'll be at a host hotel. And from what I saw at the Westin, I'm impressed. It's gorgeous.

Other great things with the Westin, if you tell housekeeping to not change the sheets (but they'll still do the rest of the room) you get a $5 voucher for anything in the hotel, so that meant we each got a turn at free coffee down at Starbucks (or in my case an iced chai.) The view was amazing over Centennial Park, and aside from the craziness Monday with everyone checking out, I never had a problem with the elevators, but that problem will be solved with AsianMommy and I staying through to Tuesday. I can't praise them enough. I got to check in as soon as I got there, which I wasn't expecting at all, but luckily I was going to pay AM when she got there in cash, so I was able to pay the first night instead, which was the same amount. The luggage dudes were all very awesome the entire weekend, same with the check in and concierge staff for dealing with my silliness and needing to get my card activated a few times since it was too close to my phone on Friday and someone in our room lost their card Saturday. Every staff person I came across asked me how my stay was and once or twice when I was standing in the lobby waiting for someone, if I seemed I looked lost, one of the hotel managers/dudes in suits would ask if I needed help with anything. So long as the Westin remains this awesome, I'm never gonna try for one of the main hotels, especially after popping into Silverharp and Mary's room at the Marriott and seeing how TINY it was (even after taking out all the random drinks and costumes and such) compared to ours. No one tripped over anyone else's stuff all weekend I believe.

Wow...May put in a res at the Westin so we can stay at least at a host hotel if the Marriott doesn't pan out. do we have a date on when it's going on sale?

Also...the Marriott had 3 extra "occupants" on the 29th floor.
