  • Dragon*Con 2013 Host Hotels

Well, I struck out at getting a room at one of the host hotels. I have some very choice words for Marriott's Passkey reservation system but that's neither here nor there.

Anyways, this thread is to ask for help in getting a room for the con. Either by taking over someone else's reservation (i.e., they can't attend but had a reservation) or being guided to a non-host hotel that's within a reasonable distance from the epicenter... uh, the con.

As much as I loathe to do this, I'm asking for help. Not expecting an immediate response as the con is ten months away but keep me in mind if your plans change.

Me too since by the time it becomes clearer whether or not I/my girlfriend will make it there probably won't be any chance of a host hotel room since it mostly depends on her getting a steady job.

AIN'T NO PARTY LIKE AN RV PART- wait... holy shit. What do you think it would cost to park an RV in one of the overnight parking lots near the con hotels?

Still not sure if I'll be going this year. Though I have a ride up and a place to stay, there's been no word on if I will be able to transfer to my employer's locations in Tallahassee FL or Valdosta GA, which will put me closer to D*C-- and to the ride there.

I've thought of this. It's ok until some asshat complains. The RV would take up two spots, as long as you pay for that, should be ok... but it depends on the lot. This might work in the ones that have no supervision. The main problem is the fact that you are staying on the property overnight. The insurance for the site is simply not going to cover people being in their vehicle. It's within their right to ask you not to stay, or to leave without a refund it the owner or staff object.

PLUS.. you'd likely pay more in gas getting there than you'd save on hotel rooms.
