Hey, I finally got to go overseas and play at Mythodea in Germany! It's awesome, though I hear Drachenfest (the week prior) is also, and many people end up going to both in a two-week orgy of gaming.

NERO Cinci, the game you see in a lot of Jennie's comics was closed down- not by choice, but because the owner of the franchise is, in my humble opinion, a dick. They plan on more games in the future- just not with NERO. (About the same time, they lost two other chapters as well.)

And thanks to (mostly not my) health issues, I haven't really been LARPing since! Hopefully, everyone else is getting their fix.

I got harrumphed at because I gave some ice in the direction of the Nero-ites. THAT was why. The owner is a sociopath. The individual people who run Nero games are usually decent folk. The amount of needless drama (in addition to the usual LARP based politics) can always be traced back to the parent corp and the owner. I'll never attend another NERO event, and I suggest people who don't want wasted effort do the same.

I've had the unpleasant and personal experience with Valenti at an event he was running, many years ago. He pitched an unholy fit because, amazingly enough - someone didn't go with his script.

When you're the only PC left in town and you watch some "rebel" posting "Hey, armed insurrection against the evil invaders" posters everywhere, and your identity papers say "Watch this one, we don't have anything on him...yet."...well, I -know- what was supposed to happen.

Silly me, I like my PC's neck unstretched. I quietly watched the NPC rabble-rouser and then snuck around behind him and took down every one of those posters the second he was out of sight.

Cue the NPC bad-guy rulers coming back with the rest of the town, looking for their cue, and...nothin. The NPC's rolled with it just fine.

I then proceeded to sneak a few into the pockets of random bags, pouches, and whatnot instead. Hey, they WERE the bad guys, I just didn't want the finger pointed at my head!

Cue the post-event, since it happened on the last day and a -furious- Valenti bitching me out for cheating because I was OOG when it happened. (That would have been my sick wife at the time, not me.)

Like most Valenti-run chapters, ET-13 disintegrated pretty darn quickly. I think the whole organization would if it wasn't for some of the National staff/owners holding it together in spite of him. They just lost three chapters (WAR, Nero Cinci, and North Coast) over Valenti's song and dance, never mind what just got shoved into the rules. One word. Microtransactions.

Alliance is pretty fun, too (speaking as a former NERO player- at least in Chicago, it's everything I hoped NERO would be when I first tried it).
