also a place of lotsa moisture and goo you want to have something between it and skin. better when brush and trees grab your fur then straight skin. they had like a quarter inch only which was frequently medicated against bugs and such ickies but not much protection from brambles and the like.

... coulda been that too. their babies were shaved though. something about local terrain and their hair being an evil mix. dunno bout you but in a swamp... i would say hair would be a good thing to have, but they apparently thought less was more.

thank you for helping me figure it out ^.^
Bouvier de Flandres look pretty similar, and are big.

Generally have more hair than a schnauz, though.

LOL! That reminds me of a child my wife met while couseling elementary kids. this one little boy was telling her about his dog.

boy, "I have this dog and he's a miniature schnauzer. He's tiny and he's a schnauzer. I don't know why they don't call him a tiny schnauzer. So I looked up miniature and found that it really means tiny. So he's really miniature after all and a schnauzer. That's why we call him a miniature schnauzer, because he's miniature and a schnauzer."

Now just imagine that said at high speed.

I can just seeing that dog jump up on its back legs, shout "ITS TERRIER TIME" then attack something.

It was on a tv show.

i thought i mentioned the terriers not setters... are setters bigger versions of terriers? or am i confusing something ENTIRELY different with an interchangable word?

But a Great Dane doesn't look much like a Setter... of course neither does a Wolfhound.

    Didn't even think about that....

The freezer would probably definitely be an objection, but I can't see her agreeing to the sticks either!! (and the person who would suggest how and where the sticks end up would probably be in for a world of discomfort!).......
