    Hmm.

I'll consider the request and shelve it for further review.

        Nice shelf.

That the one you meant, Plunder?

I sent my Figment home to ND with the girlfriend, personally. Little, purple, plushy, small wings, draconicform, EPCOT center resident.

Yeah, Figment's cute and all that but I had to stop my sweetie from getting out of that Epcot ride and stealing the Figment puppet to take it home with her years ago. I pointed out the security cameras to her that would capture her image - and soul - while "liberating" Figment. Then I pointed out the scary men in the corner wearing dark suits, dark sunglasses, communication headsets, and wearing Mickey Mouse ears (a.k.a. the Disney Secret Service). You don't fuck with them, the ears make them bad-asses.

And yes I'm kidding about the Disney Secret Service. I have a warped imagination and can just roll with the flow of b.s. that seems to pop out of my mouth. Did end up getting a Figment stuffed toy and some silly straws with mini-Figments on top of them. Think we still have one silly straw left. Somewhere. In a box.

                  • Figment is my favourite character at EPCOT. Hell, he's the only 'character' that should be there, but Disney is turning EPCOT into something that barely resembles the original vision.

And I preferred the original version of the ride, I like the new one, but it just isn't the same.

                    • Yesh, Figment is a big favorite of mine I dislike the idea of Disney changing EPCOT, but if it's changed and bringing in money, rather than the same and closed, I'm happy. I know Figment had gone away for a while, I'm hoping he shows up more now that he's back...Though people confuse him for Spyro when they see the shirt.

                      • EPCOT has been changing from day one. Just not in the right direction.

At least Spaceship Earth will be open again when I go this year. It was closed for renovation last year - supposedly they're updating it...

                        • I've only made it there once, but would dearly love to go again. I'm thinking, possibly, Disney knows something about marketing and the like, so I'm willing to trust 'em *shrugs* Getting the American public to go spend lots of money someplace educational is impressive in and of itself

                          • Yeah, see, that's the thing... It's not really educational anymore. It's more entertainment.

And the educational bits are becoming somewhat broken down. Hell, Test Track doesn't always work correctly, and the Mexico ride is now narrated by the Three Caballeros.

I believe it was open when I was there in January.

Epcots theme is both technology and the global community. They've lost some of the we're going to push technology at you that they originally did becuase it put alot of people off. Now they're incorporating it via stealth/ subliminal aclimation, as to not scare the well monied techno-phobes away.

It's still about education you just have to look for it, remember alot of people are actually put off by the education thing so it's a little more stealthy, but it's still there all over the place if you look.

And the rides, well as much as they get used it's expected that they will need overhauls and maintance every so often. Just from an engineering stand point I'd be scared as hell if they didn't.

                              • I'm just comparing the newer rides to the really old ones. I can still go on the Great Movie Ride in MGM, which hasn't really changed in...well, as long as I can remember, and it's still the same quality.

But the newest rides seem to break down more often. As much as I *adore* Disney, there are some things that need to be changed. It's not the same mystical place it was...even 10 years ago, let alone 20. The magic and mystery should be increasing, not decreasing.

Ah, I'm just blowing smoke. I still love the place. And I always will.
