I have a lot of patience for bullshit, but when a child screams just for the fun of it, NEVER listens, steals things when you aren't looking and gets away with it, well.... let's just say he's a hopeless case at this point.

Yea, some of my friends are all for a little tough love. No damage, no trauma, but sometimes you need to show them the absolute limits. That's according to them, anyway. I haven't really decided how a stand, but hanging around my nephew I usually end up leaning more in their philosophical direction.

Remember, children are like dogs. If you give 'em treats for being quiet and well behaved they'll be quiet and well behaved.

If you bribe them to shut the fuck up, they'll be loud untill the bribe comes.

the corner thing tends to result in us having a headache. because then he starts to tap or kick the wall. and his little smartass will ask how else will we punish him when we yell about it. kids kept up a record too. 3 hours looking at the corner before we decided to take him off. even then it was only cause he fell asleep standing up when it was quiet for five minutes o.O

thats what i do in the classroom when i sub..

if a student is acting up.. he gets a sheet of paper and has to write lines. i never say a word to him...


if he doesn't do them.. he goes to the office... last school i was at.. the principal walked him back in and stood over him while he wrote

Lines, corner, spanks... I think it's about getting the right combinaison and being able to adapt it to the times
particularly, the point is to observe the child and know what he really doesn't like.

right now, for us, tis the Xmas money. we put on the wall the amount they were going to get, then started taking money away for bad behavior and giving some back for good behavior. works so far.
Some other time it will be something else
