I thought the only place you could haggle was in kiosks and booths, not actual stores. Last time I 'haggled' I was ten and was going on a shopping spree with my birthday money. A little plastic ring I like was 5.25 (with tax) and I didn't want to spend that much, and was about to leave until the lady reduced it to 4.00. That ring was worn everyday until it fell apart (which was roughly 2 months later >.>)

Yeah, too bad it's not an icon in Frommers. It would make things easier, if you just knew the lay of the land when you showed up, instead of finding out later.

In some places, it's the norm. I hate to haggle as well, but when ya gotta, ya gotta.

Sounds like this guy was desperate for a sale. Having sold cars for a few months, I have to say I loathe haggling.
